On the run from an ancient enemy, Mortimer, a human farmer, struggles to contend with the will and power of Ceolzicrid, the dragon who possesses him. His best friend, Lhewen, an arsonist princess from the Starlight Forest Kingdom, is there to protect him, along with her no-nonsense cousin Loras. They trek across the lands of Erudan, from one coast to another, to garner aid in what will be a battle to determine the fate of the world. Along the way, they will face danger, secrets, and horrors forgotten to time, in a story of friendship, love, and sacrifice.
